HTC Magic hits the shops
The HTC Magic is the second phone to use Google's Android operating system.
The second mobile phone powered by Google’s Android interface is now on sale. The HTC Magic arrived in Vodafone stores today, where it is available for free on contracts of £30 and upwards.
The touchscreen phone, in many ways a follow-up to the T-Mobile G1 (also built by HTC), is a slip of a thing at only 13.65mm. HTC has been able to keep it slim by leaving out a hardware keypad, instead relying on the 3.2-inch touchscreen for the bulk of user interactivity. Features include super-fast HSDPA 3G, Wi-Fi and built-in GPS, plus access to loads of software apps via Google’s Android Market.
The cheapest contract Vodafone offer with the Magic is a two-year £30 a month jobbie (18-month contracts start at £35), and there is no pay as you go option available at present. The handset is exclusive to Vodafone.
