HMK 561 makes gorgeous electric bike

The Gadget Show  Friday 12 March 2010

HMK 561 makes gorgeous electric bike HMK 561 – the most gorgeous electric bike ever made?

If you think of electric bikes, a fairly heavy, cumbersome and well, not very lovely, hunk of metal usually springs to mind. Not so the HMK 561 electric bicycle concept, which has recently taken home an iF Design Award thanks to its spectacularly sexy design.

The frame has been completely redesigned to include the motor components at the top, just underneath the saddle, making the whole thing look lots more integrated than most electric models. The entire body is also composed completely of conductive carbon fibre that allows the bike’s actual body to pass electricity to the motors – and to store it too.

Sadly, the HMK isn’t available to punters yet, but the good news is that a full working prototype is already n existence.

What a silly machine nowhere to fut your feet, is one problem, no height adjustment so tall ppeople cant buy it & it don't look like it is geared to a mass market. I've got alot more to say about this device but not the time.

This is another concept machine that has not got the consumer in mind , more a designer's ideal in mind. 1: nowhere to put feet. 2: no brakes 3: height not adjustable. 4: judging by the way they hid the motor this is going to be exspensive and not available to the mass market. The boffins may pat themselves on the back for hiding the motor only, wheels look too glamorous to ride the roads of the UK , also how do you pump up the tyres there is no valve , dont tell me its a solid rubber tyre. No room for long journey riding. All-in-all this bike looks very nice but ony in an ideal world not a real one, I never saw this on the Gadget Show so am I to believe this is a computer mock up until bugs a re worked out via this disscussion.
