Here comes the Boxee Box

Here comes the Boxee Box The one-of-a-kind Boxee Box

We’ve had our eye on the Boxee Box for about a year now, and as of November 12 we’ll finally be able to get our hands on D-Link’s quirky streaming media box.

Officially unveiled at CES at the start of the year, the Boxee Box joins existing apps for both PC and Mac to bring the service straight to your living room.

Much like systems running the forthcoming Google TV, it pulls together HD video streams from the internet and repackages them for your TV, delivered via HDMI.

Inside the jauntily angled Box is an Intel Atom CE4100 system, and aside from its basic streaming smarts you also get direct Facebook access, the ability to organise your media and even browse the internet directly.

The Boxee Box went up for pre-order in the US about a month ago, and a new UK microsite is now taking our own orders through a variety of re-sellers for around £200, with units heading out the doors in three weeks’ time.
