Griffin Twenty Audio Amplifier for Airport Express
Griffin has been busy at CES 2012 showing off its new amplifier for the Airport Express under the rather nifty name of the Griffon Twenty with the aim of giving your non-powered speakers the ultimate in untethered digital playback from iTunes.
So, you’ve got some pretty amazing sounding speakers set up in your living room that you want to make the most of with your iTunes account. The only thing is, they’re not AirPlay enabled so what can you do?

The obvious answer is to run them to an amplifier using cable,s which ruins the aesthetic look of the room. Now, via the Griffin Twenty you can add this audio amplifier that uses an Airport Express to capture the AirPlay stream, decode it, then send the lossless, amplified sound through speakers.
The Griffon Twenty is fitted with a power connection and mount for Airport Express and packs in a 2.1 channel sound system with 20 Watts output per channel. To give it a little more ooph, it also supports a powered sub-woofer with an automatic active crossover at 80Hz.
What’s more, you’re not limited to iTunes either, as the Griffin Twenty can handle any AirPlay-enabled application, so step forward the likes of Pandora, Spotify, last.fm, to make streaming music seamless.
Currently on show at CES 2012, pricing has yet to be announced for the UK, which we’re expecting to see closer to launch date, which is thought to be in the next couple of months.
