Gorgeous Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT lands

Gorgeous Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT lands A phone dressed in leather. Nice

We love ogling Vertu’s strangely attractive but entirely unaffordable handsets. We particularly liked the limited edition Ascent Ferrari 1947, what with its Prancing Horse branding and red leather upholstery.

But we’d have to say we love the Ascent Ferrari GT even more with its forged titanium and matte black finish. It has the same hand-stitched leather seen in the 1947, which – we’re told – is identical to what is used in Ferrari’s interiors.

The side of the Ascent Ferrari GT, meanwhile, is designed to resemble an enameled representation of Ferrari’s iconic engine block, while the ceramic battery cover features the Prancing Horse symbol in polished silver.

The handset itself – if you must know – is on the inside far from the work of art it is on the outside, and in fact is the same basic feature phone that was doing the rounds from Vertu back in 2004.

But this is one mobile phone that has nothing to do with the specification. The Ascent Ferrari GT isn’t quite as exclusive as the 1947, with 2011 models set to be built, as opposed to the – you guessed it – 1947 of its predecessor. But it still remains one of the most desirable bits of mobile kit we’ve seen for a while.
