Google TV is official
Get set for Google TV
Google TV has been officially announced, and the search giant’s new venture already has tie-ins with Sony, Logitech and Intel.
Google TV will essentially bring Google’s Android OS and Google Chrome to HD TVs and set-top boxes.
Dedicated TVs from makers such as Sony, will come with both an Intel Atom processor and Google Chrome OS built-in, so you can easily browse the web and enjoy IPTV. If you don’t want to shell out on a whole new TV, Logitech will be creating a dedicated Google set-top box too. It’ll feature a controller with Logitech Harmony universal remote tech and a built-in keyboard.
Google might also breaking into the gaming arena too – with speculation over new gaming titles for the Android Market designed specifically for the new portal.
The service and subsequent devices are due to arrive in autumn in the US and the rest of the world sometime early 2011. No details on pricing for the Sony Internet TV or the other Google TV devices have been announced yet.
