Google Chrome Web Store details emerge
Google Chrome – Web Store coming soon
More details have just emerged on the Google Chrome Web Store. The portal for games and apps that’s set to take on iTunes will be landing in October, and the search giant has given us a tiny taster of what we can expect.
The good news for developers is that, rather than taking a 30 per cent cut of the app revenue, Google will only be taking five per cent from apps sold on the store. The knock-on effect of this is hopefully lots of tasty new apps and games as developers rush to take advantage of the deal.
When the store opens, you’ll be able to download web apps through Google Chrome using Google Checkout. The pricing will initially be in dollars, with in-app payments and international currencies set to be added in early 2011.
Just like iTunes, each app will have a profile with customer reviews and it the store will use other Google services such as Gmail or Google Buzz to show the apps your friends like.
Games-wise, as you can see from the image, it looks like we can look forward to Lego Star Wars and Plants vs Zombies, as well as Quake II for starters, and there’ll also be free games for download, although free trials won’t be arriving until next year.
What do you think? Will you be tapping in to the Google Chrome Web Store? Let us know below…
