Future BlackBerry BBX devices will look more like the PlayBook
Future BlackBerry devices are in for an aesthetic overhaul, as RIM plans to deliver more BlackBerry PlayBook-like features to the new BlackBerry BBX devices heading to stores next year.
BBX – the new operating system from Blackberry will arrive on new handsets in 2012. So, what can we expect from these handsets? For one thing, the traditional BlackBerry Bold-like styling will disappear, in favour of devices reported to look like smaller versions of the BlackBerry PlayBook – RIM’s own BlackBerry tablet.

It’s exciting times for BlackBerry die-hards. Just like the PlayBook, the new phones will sport a 16:9 ratio screen and an impressive 1024×600-pixel resolution, so films, games and video should look a treat.
Apps built for the PlayBook will also work on the new phones without much trouble, in the same way that Apple iPhone apps will work on the iPad. Up to now there has been no mention of a physical QWERTY keyboard, but it’s difficult to imagine a future where BlackBerries don’t have a proper keypad!
The first of the new BlackBerry BBX smartphones is rumoured to be codenamed the BlackBerry Colt – a keypadless device.
Will BlackBerry ever ditch the QWERTY keypad? Tell us your predictions below.
