Fujifilm announces FinePix F600 EXR with geotagging and augmented reality

Fujifilm has added another compact camera to its FinePix range, and this one looks a bit different. The F600 EXR has all the usual features you might expect in a camera of its size, plus some rather unusual extras. Read on to find out more.

Lets get the camera bits out of the way first – the F600 EXR has a 16-megapixel sensor providing detailed images, there’s an impressive 15x optical zoom and there’s also a 30x digital zoom. It has a flash and numerous autofocus options including a motion sensor that can enhance pics of moving objects.

What you might not expect is the built in GPS functions. These can geotag your pictures much like your phone can, but the camera also uses GPS for its augmented reality ‘Landmark Navigator’ feature. This will figure out where you are, search for landmarks where it thinks you can get a good picture and then show you an indicator detailing how the direction you need to travel and how far you need to go.

We can’t wait to see the new tech in action, and find out whether it really improves taking photographs. Does it offer the sort of features you’d want in a compact camera? Leave a comment and let us know.

i do always trust the quality of fuji....and this features is a big plus as my backup quick draw camera for my nikon d90....very good form my Aperture or iphoto so i dont have to use my iphone to take one shot to get the geotag and mix down with my other pictures...or maybe not...maybe i just buy a eye-fi geo 4G to solve this problem...but i think i will go with this than nikon s3100 as backup camera...
