Freeview TV to hit netbooks?
Fancy watching Neighbours on your netbook? It may just happen…
Is there no stopping the netbook? The mini laptops are big news at the moment, leaving owners of normal sized lappies with netbook-envy. At least they can’t tune into Freeview. What? They might be able to very soon? Thanks to a new chip from Telegent Systems, it looks that way.
The TLG2300 is a single-chip CMOS small enough to be put into pretty much any laptops, and it picks up both analogue signals and digital ones, meaning Freeview at the very least should be available on your mini computer.
Okay, we know that telly on laptops is nothing new, but the idea that a single, tiny chip that uses minimal power and space to provide you with essential Aussie viewing on your netbook, such as Neighbours and Home and Away, is appealing, no?
There still aren’t any definite subscribers to this tech, but with the netbook industry expanding faster than the average Britain’s waistline, someone should snap up the opportunity, if only to stand out from the crowd.
