Flip Wi-Fi pocket cam coming on May 1?
Flip is bringing Wi-Fi to its next pocket cam
It’s one of the most iconic devices of the past couple of years, and has helped create an entirely new product category – pocket camcorders.
We’re talking, of course, about the Flip Mino, the first in a range of dinky YouTube-friendly cams that now includes the MinoHD and the more upmarket UltraHD.
But while high-def shooting is now par for the course on pocket camcorders, Flip has already signalled its intention to up the ante by introducing Wi-Fi to its next generation of video-capturing gizmos.
And now such a device has just headed for the FCC in the States for certification, a sure sign that a full launch can’t be too far away. The notes in the FCC filing specify that photos of the device remain undisclosed until May 1. Could that be an unofficial outing of the Flip Wi-Fi cam’s launch date?
That aside, there’s not much else to be gleaned from the filing, other than the presence of both USB and HDMI connectors.
