First glimpse of aluminium-clad iRiver E200
Thin and all-metal - the iRiver E200 looks distinctly Apple-inspired in its design.
Portable media player specialist iRiver has let slip some shots of its upcoming replacement for the E100 – and it’s shaping up to be a bit of a looker. While the E200 shares a broadly similar design to the E100, it swaps out the plastic exterior for an all-metal design.
It’s thinner too – 9.9mm as opposed to the E100’s 11.3mm – and the screen size has been bumped from 2.4-inch to 2.8-inch. And while this is yet to be confirmed, it seems that the screen might be OLED this time, meaning better colours and brightness.
4GB and 8GB versions will be offered, and while that isn’t a huge amount of space compared to the likes of the iPod nano (which goes up to 16GB), but this time the MicroSD card slot means you’ll be able to boost storage on the cheap. The interface and touch-sensitive controls look set to be carried over from the E100.
We don’t know the price or release date for the iRiver E200 yet, but the E100 costs around £40 and £55 for the 4GB and 8GB versions respectively – we’d expect its replacement not to deviate too far from that.
