Fancy a 200-megapixel digital camera?
The 200-megapixel Hasselblad H4D-200MS
If you’re in the market for a new camera, you’ll no doubt be looking at things like megapixel count when weighing up your options. So how does a full 200 megapixels grab you? Cos that’s what you get with the Hasselblad H4D-200MS.
The 200MS is the latest in the H4D series, a line of cameras that has vaulted Hasselblad from its position as renowned high-end film camera maker to a similar position in the digital world.
And Hasselblad has really pushed the boat out this time, quadrupling the resolution of the already formidable H4D-50S to get to the truly remarkable figure of 200 megapixels.
Admittedly, there is a little fuzzy math going on, as those super-high res images are actually created by stitching together six shots inside the 200MS’ body, while for your less intensive photographic needs you can step down to a four-shot 50 megapixel setting.
The rest of the spec is hardly worth a mention after such a jawdropping start, but with a medium-format sensor on board, you can be sure the 200MS will deliver the same level of image quality as it does image size.
And what would you expect to pay for this kind of supreme photographic prowess? Well, if your guess was €32,000 you’re right on the money, though the good news is that existing H4D-50MS users can upgrade the sensor for a paltry €7,000.

Megapixels are a conspiracy. Take smartphone cameras: iPhone 4 (5mp) beats most 8mp cameras hands-down (just an example, I prefer WinPho so don't hate). Apply to same logic to this, it's probably not as good as some lower mp sensors.
