Facebook Lite: it's nothing like Twitter, okay?
Officially, Facebook Lite is a bandwidth friendly version of the once essential timewaster, paired down to the bones so it’s super quick to load and extremely easy to use. But if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Facebook must really, really like Twitter. A lot.
Lite strips out all the bloat from apps and games that currently clutter the social network and gives a much clearer view of what’s been posted by your mates. Even the layout is Twitter-esque with big fonts and lots of empty space, although it shows photos, videos and web links in addition to status updates.
Facebook started rolling out the slimmed down version to India and the US late yesterday evening and it’s since been opened up to all English users. It’s currently in the process of translating Lite into other languages, so other countries will get to play soon too.
