Extend PlayStation Vita battery life by up to three times

Next month sees the release of the Sony PS Vita. Ahead of its February 22nd store date, video game accessory maker Nyko has been revealing its latest goodies for the new portable console.

Among them, a Nyko Power Grip said to deliver up to three times as much battery power to the PS Vita.

Top 5 games that make the PS Vita worth buying

Attached to the PS Vita, the Nyko Power Grip’s handles makes the console resemble a PlayStation controller with a large screen in the middle. It may look a little silly, but if Nyko’s claims of extended battery power are to be believed, it could be an essential gaming accessory.

The clips are easily adjusted or retracted behind the system for when you’re traveling, says Nyko. The Nyko Power Grip works with the existing PS Vita battery, rather than replace it.

In regular use, Sony claims that PS Vita battery life clocks in at around three and five hours while playing games and watching videos, and up to nine hours when listening to music. So, with the Nyko Power Grip, that could mean up to 25-plus hours of battery life for your PS Vita. Not bad at all.

The Nyko Power Grip will be available from February 22nd from North America-based online stores at a cost of $24.99 (£16) – a bargain considering how much accessories can cost these days.

We’re thoroughly excited about the PS Vita and its impressive launch line-up. Have you pre-ordered your own PS Vita? Let us know in the comments section below, along with your launch games of choice.
