Dell Adamo XPS: the world's slimmest laptop
The wafer-thin Adamo XPS – seriously skinny
Dell has unveiled the super-skinny Adamo XPS, a wafer-thin laptop just 9.99mm thick.
The original Adamo was already a slender beast when it weighed in earlier this year, but the XPS takes things to a whole new level by chopping a full 6mm from its side view.
Its low profile is accompanied by a weight of just 1.44kg, though on this front the XPS isn’t a class leader – tipping the scales more than its chief rivals, the MacBook Air and Sony Vaio X.
The size-zero design leaves no room for an optical drive in its all-aluminium body – no surprise there, but the Adamo XPS does feature a 13.4in LED screen, Intel Core 2 Due processor, 128GB of solid state storage and a Macbook Air-squashing 4GB of RAM.
Another innovations include an unusual hinge mechanism that sees the keyboard raised towards you at a 20-degree angle when the XPS is opened, and a unique heat-detecting opening latch that releases with just a swipe of a finger.
Prices start at £1,125.
