Creative Vado HD makes its UK bow

Creative’s pocket Hi-Def camcorder gets its UK release; we rejoice

You may remember not too long ago that we announced that Creative were launching the Vado HD in America, well finally the good stuff is hitting the UK. When? Right now, baby!

That’s right. You can get your sweaty palms on the palm-sized shooter now for just £209.99. What that outlay will give you is HD footage caught at 720p. The mini camcorder also has an HDMI socket built-in and can output at 1080i! Ideal for doing a Be Kind Rewind-style remake of Tom Cruise’s latest epic Valkyrie. Just find a young kid to play the diminutive lead (Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg – great name!), stick him in a Nazi outfit, make sure he can play a German with an American accent, then start framing it up on the Vado HD’s two-inch built-in screen.

You also get 8GB of memory, a battery life of two hours, a built-in USB connector so you can hook it directly up to a computer for editing your home movie, and the guys at Creative have even thrown in an HDMI cable with the camcorder. All you’ll need than is a megaphone, clapperboard and God-complex and you’re one step closer to becoming a Hollywood director…
