Chair + Keyboard = Texte-ile!
What do you get when recycling gadgets and chairs collide? the Texte-ile
Okay, now this is taking recycling to the extreme. You may recall that we recently unveiled the Ultimate Gadget Chair (a chair fitted with gadgets), but it seems there are some designers out there who are making chairs out of gadgets – namely Dante Bonuccelli and Lamm, who have created the Texte-ile!
Designed for the Use More Use Less project, the Text-ile’s surface is made up from discarded computer keyboard keys. Where do they get all the keys from? A company called VOICE SYSTEMS creates computer systems with integrated laptops for people with visual disabilities, which means it has no need for the keys. Bonucelli and Lamm took these elements and used them to create the Texte-ile.
It doesn’t look all that comfortable, but we’re all for recycling our tech and innovative ideas. Surely it won’t be long before the LED backlit keyboard foot rest makes an appearance…
