Canon launches the best DSLR yet?

The Canon EOS-1D X may be aimed at professional photographers, but it’s a serious piece of kit that most fans of photography would love to get their hands on. From an 18-megapixel full-frame sensor, to staggering 204,000 ISO capabilities, it promises to be arguably the best camera yet.

We’ve seen lots of impressive EOS camera models from Canon, with the EOS-1D sitting at the top of the range. The Canon EOS-1D X is the latest, and is cram-packed with high-end technology.

There are two Digic 5+ imaging processors for a start, along with the high-end full-frame 18-megapixel sensor. Manual focusing definitely looks like something you’ll only be doing for fun as well, thanks to a 61-point autofocus system.

The sensor gets oversized pixels to help keep digital noise to a minimum irrespective of lighting conditions, and the ability to shoot photographs at up to 204,000 ISO should help you to take full advantage.

You’ll also be able to shoot HD films at 1080p and up to 30fps, although this is one camera that’s really all about the stills. You’ll even be able to transfer the (predictably massive) photo and video files via a network cable, with a Gigabit Ethernet connection built into the left-hand side of the camera.

Don’t expect it to come cheap, however, as it’s set to launch in the US with a $6,800 price tag.
