Canon launches EOS 600D and 1100D DSLRs
Canon's latest DSLR powerhouse, the EOS 600D
Canon has beefed up the lower end of its DSLR portfolio with the all-new EOS 600D and EOS 1100D, offering an updated set of features fresh for 2011.
The 600D features a meaty 18-megapixel CMOS sensor and full HD movie shooting, along with a fully automatic Scene Intelligent Auto mode, a scene selection mode typically seen on compacts but increasingly finding its way onto DSLRs too.
What compact definitely won’t give you, however, is 3.7fps high-speed shooting an ISO range between 100 and 6400, and a 3in vari-angle LCD.
The EOS 600D will be available in April for either £679 on its own or £769 with an 18-55mm kit lens.
The entry-level 1100D, meanwhile, has a lower 12.2-megapixel sensor and 720p video shooting, but you still get the same versatile ISO range and 3fps burst mode. It’s also compatible with the EyeFi memory card system for wireless image transfers.
The EOS 1100D will also be around in April, and will cost £419 body only.
