Canon gives PowerShots even more power
The new SX230 - a highly sensitive soul
Canon has announced the PowerShot SX230 HS and SX220 HS as part of its considerable spring refresh, with the attractive new pair set to land in the UK in March.
The HS stands for High Sensitivity, with Canon saying the back-illuminated CMOS sensors inside help deliver better results in low-light conditions.
That aside, both feature a 12.1-megapixel resolution, less than the 14-megapixel chip in the previous-generation SX210, but in line with recent trends to look beyond pure pixel counts and focus on other features. Such as an impressive 14x optical zoom capability, for instance.
As is also becoming the norm these days, you get full HD shooting on board both these compact snappers, and the main difference is that the SX230 has on-board GPS for some geo-tagging fun.
Prices have yet to be announced.
