Call of Duty Elite maps for PS3, finally!
PS3 Call of Duty players, rejoice! The latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 maps for Premium Members will go live on the PlayStation Network on 28th February, just over a month after Xbox 360 players received them.
The content drop will include two new maps, called Liberation & Piazza will deliver long and short-range combat gameplay for multiplayer Call of Duty fans playing on a PS3 console.
A PS3 announcement for the new maps has been a long time coming, so it’s good to know that we at least have a date for their arrival. So, why the wait? Well, a deal with Microsoft means that Xbox 360 owners currently get first dibs on the new map pack content that Activision hopes will kick the multiplayer pants off rival Battlefield 3.
The Liberation & Piazza maps coming to PS3 on 28th February were originally released to Xbox 360 owners on 24th January. So that’s little more than a month until new maps arrived on PS3. That should give you some idea of how long the next set of maps will appear on PS3 after having arrived on Xbox 360.
As for the maps. Liberation is set in a militarised Central Park in New York City featuring an open landscape suited to long-range sniper action. Mounted turrets on either end tear through any player daring (or foolish) enough to take control of them.
Piazza takes place in an idyllic seaside town littered with blind corners to peep from, and twisting pathways where a firefight could blow up at every turn in a map geared for close-quarter combat. That’ll mean getting out the mini assault rifles and shotguns out, then.
For a heads-up on when the next Call of Duty Elite content will appear, keep an eye on the Call of Duty Content Calendar. Although right now, the months are filled with ‘coming soon‘ messages, so it’s one worth bookmarking.
PS3 players may have to wait till the end of the month to play, but what about you Xbox 360 fans. What do you think of the new maps? Too busy playing Battlefield 3 to notice?
