One of the universal truths about mobile devices is that you can never have enough storage. Even the iPhone 32GB’s generous helping doesn’t go far once you start packing it with high-quality video.

Enter Buffalo’s Dualie – a combined iPhone/iPod dock and external hard drive that effectively ups your Apple gadget’s storage by a whopping 500GB.

First seen at CES earlier this month, the drive itself sits vertically in the same docking station as the iPhone itself, with its complementary design making it look rather like an oversized bodyguard.

And it’s not just the supplied drive the Dualie will play along with – you can slot in other drives of the same physical size, plus there’s a pair of USB 2 ports for extra connectivity.

The Dualie is exclusive to the Apple Store and works with all iPhones as well as second-gen iPod touches, fifth-gen nanos and 120GB Classics. It goes on sale next month for £199.
