BookBox colour eReader costs just £80
Get your eBook jollies for just £80
Music peddler HMV has just popped up with a surprising new addition to its web store – the View Quest BookBox, a full blown eReader that tips the money scale at a miserly £79.99.
Admittedly, with just a 5in screen it’s barely any bigger than some mobile phones, but support for most eBook file formats is present and correct, and the BookBox throws a surprising number of extra features into the bag too.
For starters, you can use it to watch photos or 720p video, or stick your headphones into the 3.5mm slot to enjoy some tunes. You get 2GB of on-board storage to get you started, and can add more via the SD memory card slot.
However you’re using the BookBox, the ARM 400MHz processor should have plenty of juice for the job, and six hours of eBook battery life (or 20 hours if listening to music) isn’t too bad for a backlit device.
Take note, though – the £80 price tag is only available online; head to your nearest HMV branch on the high street and you’ll have to cough up another £20 to get your hands on View Quest’s cut-price reader.
