BBC One HD launching next month
BBC One, soon in HD
HD channels are hardly few and far between any more, and now BBC One is to take its place among the high-def ranks as of November 3.
BBC One HD will run alongside the main BBC HD channel, and will be a direct simulcast of the standard BBC One channel, with selected programmes delivered in full high-resolution glory.
Among the key programmes being lined up for some HD goodness are EastEnders – as from Christmas Day, anyway – Strictly Come Dancing, Children in Need and Antiques Roadshow.
On launch day itself, the highlights include The One Show, Wallace and Gromit: World of Inventions, Nigel Slater’s Simple Suppers and The Apprentice. Programmes not already filmed in HD will be upscaled.
The BBC One HD service will be available on a variety of platforms, including not only Sky (channel 169) and Virgin Media (187), but also Freesat (109) and Freeview (54) too.

I hope Sky now make it so that the HD versions of the main channels (only BBC2 missing) are automatically allocated to 101 thru 105.

I'm not sure about F1, but the last two MotoGP races are definitely being shown in HD. I also agree that it's time for SKY to shuffle the channels and group the main HD channels together.

Great at last a full time channel you dont have to subscribe to, because free HD channels are very very far and few between, in fact until this comes along there are none. BBC HD and ITV HD only show select programmes at select times, so this will be the first true HD channel on a free service. Unfortunatly we are lacking far behind our european neighbours when it comes to tv and quality of picture. So this is about time, oh and Marts F1 is already shown in HD.
