Asus lines up Eee PC heavyweight
The latest variation on the Eee PC theme
Asus has added yet another netbook to its groaning Eee PC line.
This time it’s the Eee PC 1201N, but it isn’t just another mid-range placeholder – its screen size, power and multimedia street-cred really do blur the lines between netbook and laptop.
It comes with a netbook-friendly dual core Intel Atom processor, and dedicated Nvidia Ion graphics, plus it has a whopping 750GB of storage, though this is a slight case of smoke and mirrors, with two-thirds of it actually online storage.
But there’s no arguing with the quality of its 12.1in glossy screen, which is happy handling HD video. Alternatively, an HDMI port means you can send it elsewhere.
Weighing in at 1.46kg the 1201N is on the upper end of the netbook weight scale, but at a not-unreasonable £399 it does make for an impressive deal, especially as it comes with Windows 7. If you’re interested, you’ll be able to pick one up in January.
