Asus brings wireless to UK O!Play
The Asus O!Play – now packing Wi-Fi
Taiwanese tech specialist Asus is bringing the latest version of its O!Play media streamer to the UK this week, and it puts to right the main criticism of the original: the lack of Wi-Fi.
There are certainly no shortage of HD media-streaming gizmos vying for a space in your home cinema setup, but none of them are likely to bring Asus’ pocket-friendly approach to the matter.
The O!Play Air HDP-R3, to use its full tongue-twisting name, comes with wireless N Wi-Fi as standard, on top of the same generous format support seen in the original, including the likes of AVI, MP4, MPG and even MKV video formats.
An Ethernet socket remains for old-fashioned networking jollies, but Wi-Fi sets the O!Play free to fling your video and sound around the house.
The best part, though, is the price: we’ll have to wait until the end of the week to get an exact UK price, but given its highly reasonable €130 European price tag, we can expect a price in the region of £110-£120 once we see it here.
