Asus announces DR-900 3G eBook reader
Asus DR-900 – more eBook goodies
Asus has officially announced its 9inch eBook Reader, the DR-900. In amongst its slew of announcements at CeBIT in Hanover today, including a round-up of new eco products came the official nod on the paperback replacement. And it’s got 3G…
The screen apparently displays “crisp, paper-like” pages, with Asus claiming it’s also “no thicker than a pencil”. Other specs that have been confirmed today include 4GB of storage space, Wifi and – most importantly – a 3G connection, meaning that you’ll be able to download titles on the go, a la Amazon Kindle.
There’s also file support for PDF, TXT, MP3 and ePUB files and apparently you’ll get 20 400-page novels read on one charge – we dare you to try!
There’s no wird yet of UK pricing or availability, but this looks like another interesting addition to the burgeoning 2010 eBook market.

Wow! I'm an avid book reader and until recently, couldn't imagine myself reading electronically - good old books is the way to go! BUT today I found out about Asus coming out with an eboook reader and I'm stoked! The Amazon Kindle 2 may be all great and all but the DRM protection or something has totally put me off - oh and the fact that I live in the UK. SO, personally, I can't wait until this ereader hits the UK shelves! And I'm sure that although the Kindle store is racing ahead in terms of the avalibilty of books, ebooks are bound to catch up in the next year or so. Am really looking forward to this one coming out. Have researched on youtube and the interface appears way better than the Kindle's. I'm getting one when it comes out!
