Asda kicks off iPod price war
The new iPod nano - cheapest at Asda
Supermarket giant Asda has announces its prices for the new Apple iPods launched earlier this month, and in every single case comes in cheaper than Apple itself.
The entry-level 2GB iPod shuffle kicks things off at £37 via Asda – that’s £2 less than you’ll pay at the Apple Store – while the iPod touch and nano ranges all come in at between £3 and £13 cheaper too, right up to the 64GB iPod touch, which will set you back £316 at the retailer.
The prices outdo not only Apple, but also rival online retailers such as Amazon and Play.com, which only go as far as to match the Apple Store prices.
There is a catch, however. While all its chief rivals offer free delivery, Asda doesn’t. There’s a standard £4.95 delivery charge on all the new Apple gear, meaning unless you’re combining your shiny new purchase with a truckload of groceries, chances are you’re better off looking elsewhere after all.
