Archos Android tablet gets its own app store
AppsLib: an app store for your Archos Android tablet
Another day, another app store. The latest, AppsLib, comes from Archos in preparation for its upcoming Archos Android tablet that’s due for a release in the middle of next month. So what’s the skinny?
The AppsLib store gives a bit more insight into what we can expect from the Archos Android tablet when it’s released on September 15. Forget all this talk of an Apple tablet, and will it or won’t it arrive, the Archos Android tablet is happening and it’s coming with a five-inch WVGA screen, HDMI and the ability to playback 720p video!
Because the Archos Android tablet will also have OpenGL library support, it means plenty of sophisticated graphics as well. Combine that with Flash support, a humungous 500GB hard drive and support for making phone calls and you won’t feel too sad if Apple doesn’t release a tablet of its own.
AppsLib then, will supply the tablet with plenty of delicious applications. In their own words: “We want it to become the cornerstone of Application Stores, the place where people will find the best-of-breed applications”. Whether this will truly rival Android Market – Google’s very own app store that’s been available for a while – remains to be seen. What do you reckon?
