Archos 2 and 4 players incoming?
French purveyors of fine PMPs turn attention to MP3 players
With a growing focus on all-singing, all-doing devices, you might expect gadgets such as MP3 players to go the way of the do-do. Archos certainly doesn’t think that’s the case, because the French PMP company has plans afoot to release the Archos 2 and Archos 4.
Okay, so they’re not exactly the Archos Android tablet that we’ve been patiently waiting for and expecting, but the Archos 2 and Archos 4 are two snazzy little players that’ll rival most ‘basic’ players on the market. First up the Archos 2. It’ll be available in 8GB or 16GB flavours with a 1.8-inch screen. Measuring just 0.35 inches thick it’s so slim it has to run around in the shower just to get wet. Or it would do if it had to shower! With the added bonus of an SD card slot and a price ranging from £40-£60, this suddenly becomes a nano-baiter worth taking seriously.
Next up for your consideration, the Archos 4. Okay, we don’t know much about the 4 yet, but we do know that it has a four-inch screen and is more PMP-like than the 2. Also, it looks set to be available in 16GB and 32GB sizes.
There’s no word on a release date as of yet, but we can’t wait for the Archos 2 and 4 to go man a mano with Apple’s finest.
