Apple sells two million iPads
iPad – selling like hotcakes
Apple has announced that it has already sold over two million iPads since its official launch on 3 April. The computer giant has shifted these devices initially in the US, followed by an international release in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK last week.
“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
There are already 5,000 new apps designed specifically for the iPad that take full advantage of its UI, as well as most of the 200,000 apps for the iPhone or iPod Touch. These latest sales figures make the iPad a faster seller than than Apple’s other hero product, the iPhone.
Whether the iPad will eventually match the iPhone’s 51 million sales worldwide remains to be seen…
