Apple reveals most popular apps ever
It's all about apps
As Apple creeps steadily towards its magical 10 billionth app download, the company has decided to mark the occasion by revealing the 10 most popular free iPhone apps of all time.
It’s taken just three short years for the App Store to rack up those billions of downloads, and in doing so it’s almost singlehandedly made apps the lifeblood of any mobile OS.
Unsurprisingly, it’s Facebook that comes out on top of the mobile pile, no surprise considering the work it’s put in to be as mobile-friendly as possible.
US-only music streaming service Pandora takes second place, followed by the Google Mobile App and the music-identification service Shazam.
Only one game features in the top 10 – the crazily addictive Paper Toss in 10th spot.
Apple also revealed the top paid iPhone apps, with Doodle Jump taking the prize, and the most popular free and paid iPad apps so far, titles claimed by Pandora and SoundHound respectively.
