Apple iPod event: latest rumour round up
Apple: It's only rock and roll, but we like it.
The clock is ticking on Apple’s new product shindig which will kick off at 6pm UK time, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time to speculate wildly, er, use informed opinion to decipher what the fruity phone maker will pull out of the hat later on.
The big clue is that the event is all about music – even a D-list celeb falling out of a nightclub at 3am in the morning couldn’t miss the lack of subtlety in Apple’s tagline: It’s only rock and roll, but we like it.
So that means no iTablets, domestic cleaning robots or Back To The Future style flying cars. What it does mean is MP3 players. Lots of them. The current word on the internet is that the entire iPod range is getting spruced up.
If it’s to be believed, the big news is that both the touch and nano will be getting cameras, and in addition the latter will also be outfitted with an FM radio. A little late, but nice nonetheless.
The classic, far from being phased out, will go up to a whopping 160GB and the little old shuffle will get an entire new set of clothes based on the poor performance of it’s current incarnation.
There’s also likely to be a Beatles shaped announcement at some point – possibly before the event kicks off proper.

i think the ipod touch would suit a camera, as the iphone has. however with the camera added there's not that much separating the two, to the point of it being almost irrational to have the 2 separate items -at least to me, but others may disagree-, especially with the iphone costing roughly double. the classic and nano don't really need cameras, nor does the classic need more memory, the touch does the most; music, video, games, and apps beyond comprehension, and although i am not the proud owner of one (yet), it occurs to me that with more to store more memory is darn-near essential. on some side notes: the new shuffle's buttons being on the earphone wire is a silly idea, as now we cannot use our favourite headphones -as stated in this week's show- they should meet us half way, and have the buttons built-in to a 3.5mm wire ADAPTOR, so they are still in the wire, but any pair of 'phones can be plugged in. finally (sorry for being so long and boring) all ipods should come in the full range of colours, not just the nanos and previous edition of shuffle. just because we want to tweet on the go (for example) doesn't mean we don't want a coloured ipod.

oh, and on an extra side-note regarding the header image of this topic: why doesn't apple make the dancing silloette adverts anymore? those were so cool
