Android owners secretly want iPhones
Guess what the most desirable phone is...
According to all the sales figures Android phones are certainly not hanging around on the shelves, but a new survey suggests a good number of those taking the plunge could end up secretly wishing they’d opted for an iPhone instead.
Android users are four times more likely to covet an iPhone than the other way around, the MyPhoneDeals.co.uk survey has found – this despite a 1,000 per cent increase in sales of Android devices over the past year.
“Almost a third of Android owners admitted to longing after an iPhone, whilst just seven per cent of iPhone users stated they’d prefer an Android model,” the survey found. The iPhone fares even better among smartphone first-timers, with more than half of men who didn’t already own a smartphone would choose an iPhone as their first model, and nearly three quarters of women.
Android comes in as a clear second choice among both camps, but in a clear indication of just how much work Microsoft has ahead in gaining real traction for Windows Phone 7, just three per cent of those surveyed said the new platform would be their first choice.

The Iphone is a good piece of tech and a thing of beauty but that comes at a price with its metal and glass finish. I have an ipod touch that is an expensive MP3 player but it can run most of the apps that are available for the iphone. It is mostly about apps and usability that draw people to the iphone. However the next phone i'll have will probably be the HTC Desire HD or next Gen Galaxy S, WHY? because most of the apps that are developed for the iphone now are also being developed for the android because developers realise that the android market place will be bigger than the itune app store because of the shear volume of handsets that run Android OS in some form or other. The gap is closing, most phones now come with the same set of standards that have caught up with the iphone, as android evolves further I can see a good consumer price war in the future (hopefully).

I have a samsung galaxyS on android renewd from a iphone 3gs, If i had wanted another iphone I would have bought one, Athough I wish I had waited a few months for android 2.2 for the flash player. I Will just have to wait for the update. 3 months down the line and thats my only regret.

Im sorry i was offered an iphone 4 as an up grade which i turned down. The iphone 4 isn't a phone its just a fashion accessorize. If you want a real phone that looks good as well you need HTC dersire hd.

I've had an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4 - switched to HTC Desire HD and can safely say I have no 'wants' or 'needs' for another iPhone secretly or otherwise. If I did want another iPhone I would buy one. Sorry Apple but you loose this time, the other guys are just catching you up to quickly. @David - doubt it, when has Apple ever participated in a price war?
