Android gets Opera Mini 4.2
Opera Mini 4.2 is the Android's first alternative web browser
In the hottest web browser news of the day so far Opera Mini 4.2 has hit the Android phone harder than a Ricky Hatton blow to the chin.
The first alternative internet browser for the G1, Mini 4.2 is the next generation of Opera’s ultra-fast web viewer and the first third-party option for Google’s OS. You’ll also be able to use Le Google in a variety of different lingos as it includes 90 different language options. Mini 4.2 also allows you to personalise your browser and use Opera Link software to sync notes from your desktop PC to the mobile browser. Handy. There’s also increased support for real time streaming protocol (RTSP), which should deliver better mobile videos.
Naturally, you’ll be able to use it on various other mobiles too, unless you’re using an iPhone that is. Despite Opera saying that it would definitely like to develop for Apple’s mobile Messiah, there’s still no sign of it appearing in iTunes App Store.
In other Android news, T-mobile has actually lowered the fee on the G1. The new tariff is now £30 a month with a free handset, knocking £10 off the old price. The deal is for an 18-month minimum contract on the Flext 30 with web’n’walk Plus package and you get a free 8GB memory card and up to 700 minutes free or 1,400 texts plus unlimited internet access. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to the local T-mobile store.
