Amazon Kindle finally arrives in UK
Finally us Brits can also enjoy the Amazon Kindle
It’s taken seemingly longer than James Cameron’s 3D epic Avatar has to reach cinemas, but finally the Amazon Kindle e-reader has been made available worldwide. And that includes good old Blighty.
So why should you care? Well the Amazon Kindle is like having the equivalent of a library right there in your hand. Not only that, but thanks to 3G skills you can also send emails and download digital newspapers and magazines.
As far as the Amazon Kindle’s spec sheet reads there’s a six-inch display on which to read your favourite books, a full keyboard, 3G to get books downloaded in less than 60 seconds, and a battery that’ll last for days without needing a boost. Plus it can hold 1,500 books – that’d even keep Johnny 5 busy for a while!
The Kindle actually costs $259 because it’s still being shipped from the US. But with an import tax of $45 it means it’s accessible over here as well, and in a further 99 countries. So in total you’re looking at forking out around £217. Not bad for a library in your manbag.
