Amazon brings iPad-only Windowshop to the UK
Amazon makes spending money on an iPad easier
Online retail giant Amazon has brought Windowshop, its reskinned online store designed specifically for the Apple iPad, over the Atlantic to the UK, France and Germany.
Already caressing iPad surfaces in the US since the end of October, Windowshop is a “complete rewrite” of the Amazon interface, offering the same selection as the ordinary web interface, but in a far more iPad-friendly package.
Specifically, multi-touch support is built in to make it easier for iPad users to reach their favourite online goodies on screen, with the timing presumably a lot to do with hoping they do just that in the final days of shopping before Christmas.
“It’s a top-to-bottom rewrite of Amazon.co.uk with a completely new fluid experience that offers users a unique, fast and convenient way to search, browse and buy from Amazon.co.uk and thousands of Marketplace sellers,” says Greg Greeley, Amazon’s vice-president of EU retail.
The Amazon Windowshop app is available now as a free download – just head over to the App Store.
