Altec Lansing outs universal InMotion Air

Altec Lansing outs universal InMotion Air Loves all music players, and iPods too

We’re big fans of Altec Lansing’s InMotion range of iPod docks and speakers, but of course not every personal music player is an iPod.

Enter the InMotion Air – a wireless audio system that ignores Apple’s AirPlay system and instead presents a universal music streaming solution to any device, be it a PC, MP3 player, mobile phone or just about anything else these days.

The magic happens via Bluetooth, either directly from the device in question, or if you’re using a PC through a supplied USB adapter which also contains software that makes streaming tunes to the InMotion Air over a distance a little easier.

And speaking of distance, you’ve got up to 300 feet to play with before things start to go awry, while Altec Lansing says you can look forward to around seven hours of playback before the InMotion Air needs a charge. Thanks to a line-out connection you can even add your own external speakers should you require even more oomph.

The Altec Lansing InMotion Air goes on sale next month in a choice of slate black or gunmetal grey. So far we’ve only got the $199 US price to go on, but expect it to be much the same in pounds sterling once it hits UK shelves.
