Some of the most desirable tablets come at a price, however, MIPS Technologies believes it has achieved the holy grail of shattering the barrier between performance and price, with the Ainol NOVO7. The Ainol NOVO7 is the world’s first Android 4.0 packing the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system for just under £100.

Android phone and tablet users have been looking forward to the Ice Cream Sandwich update set to add extra features and usability to compatible devices. The Ainol NOVO7 will be the first tablet to come with it fully loaded.

An Ingenic JZ4770 processor and 1GHz CPU powers the tablet, which MIPS claims can run all sorts of apps, including games such as Angry Birds, email and all the mod-cons you would expect to find on an Android tablet at a low cost.

According to MIPS, customers will receive all the features found in high-end tablets. on board you’ll find a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen, front and rear-facing cameras, an SD card slot, and HDMI capable of 1080p full definition video, MIPS says. A 30-hour standby puts its stamina up there with the very best.

The Ainol NOVO7 will first be launching in the US, before heading to other parts of the world in the coming months, with 8-and 9-inch versions on the way. For under £100, how does that sound? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.

Hi , could some1 buy this and see how it is.. or even better get it presented on the show.. as we tried the cheap 1 at asda. worst mistake... wudnt play videos, or wen did, sound was 10secs behind video, .. could some1 let me no how this is for web, games, and vids ..

I use many Apple products- the Apple MacBook Pro, iPad, iMac, iPhone etc- but this tablet looks pretty good- not that it would ever beat the mighty iPad!!!!!!
