Will you take the Sony PSP phone call?

Friday 05 March

Will you take the Sony PSP phone call? Do you think this would make a good phone?

News just in today, from the Wall Street Journal no less, that Sony is indeed working on a Sony PSP phone. It’s thought to bring together Sony smarts in the areas of ebook readers, audio player and gaming devices to deliver an uber handset to take on the likes of Apple and Android.

Now, PSP phone rumours have been doing the rounds for quite some time now, but these seem to be gaining some momentum, now that credible sources are involved. It’s also thought that the PSP phone would incorporate Sony’s new about to be launched iTunes-style app offering – Sony Online Service.

What do you think, dear readers? Do you think that a PSP phone would be a winner? And what sort of features would you like to see packed on board? Let us know below…

Good idea, I don't buy this rumour for a minute. Device cohesion is not Sonys style, they keep their tech departments seperate and would be competing with themselves: There is Sony Ericsson phone with a PS3 app (only really manages friends when it could do so much more). The PSP already has Skype, Go Cam and Go Explore. Sony have already lauched the Minis store and Vid Store, so why launch another App store? The sony reader is already a good single purpose bit of kit. I've heard a PS3 tablet romours too, but I think these we're all just leaked to drum up interest in the (short lifetime) portable blu-ray players. Plus, who want's to download 800mb of LBP PSP over 3g?

Just thinking what it would look like..... if it looks like the same as a psp then it would be strange to use... People would think you're talking to your psp!

Finally a phone that I might actually spend the hundreds of pounds that people already spend on 'smart' phones. If this is anything uber cool, like an actually communication device, I will be happy for once! Ideally it would like like the device from Quantum of Solace by Sony, with flip out keyboard. Haha it would be a dream device!
