Who's the karaoke daddy?

In this Britain’s Got Pop Idol X-Factor age, karaoke has become king. You just need to look at the success of Lips and Singstar on their respective platforms to see that. Well now there’s a new way of warbling along to your favourite tunes – SingSnap

Singsnap is an online karaoke site that’s dedicated to creating an online community around karaoke. Basically it allows you to upload your own version of popular songs like, erm, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and, er, I’ve Got You Babe, so you can then create your own profile and invite people to watch and leave comments. And then you can do exactly the same to other people’s offerings.

I decided to create my very own Gadget Show profile for Singsnap. Getting inspired by some of the, ahem, special offerings on Singsnap I decided to get the whole office involved to produce a couple of special renditions ourselves. Seriously, you haven’t heard Hotel California until it’s sung by Dionne.

It’s free to sign up to Singsnap, but part with $12 a month or $120 a year and you get the gold membership, which entitles you to a host of extras such as a bigger library of songs, ability to record duets and in stereo. Right, anyone want to sing a bit of Bon Jovi? No? Just me then. Wooooohhhhhhhh! We’re half way there….
