Vote: Sonic vs Mario
When we talk about iconic gaming characters there are two that stand moustachioed head and spikey shoulders above everybody else. That’s right. We’re talking about Super Mario and Sonic the Headgehog.
The Italian plumber known as Mario first appeared way back in the 1981 arcade hit in Donkey Kong and actually went under the unimaginative name Jump Man. After a bit of brainstorming Mario was born. In 1983 he starred alongside Luigi in the Mario Bros on the NES, and thus the Super Mario Bros series was born. To date he’s starred in over 200 games and a feature film. Won seven Guinness World Records and earned Nintendo billions. During the 90’s he was more famous than Mickey Mouse. Now that’s saying something!
But can he stand up to Sonic the Hedgehog? In 1991 the SEGA Megadrive went up against the SNES and Sonic was its iconic character. And his USP was all about speed. A faster hedgehog you will not see. Thanks to Sonic the SEGA Megadrive was a success, with over 50 million Sonic titles sold worldwide. He’s now taken it to the next level, jumping on apps and even has his own Facebook and Twitter pages. But is that enough to take on Mario?

Oh, Sonic SO should have been put up on the wall. Sure Mario has Mario Kart, Paper Mario, etc. But The Sonic franchise has brought us characters like Shadow the Hedgehog, Miles 'Tails' Prower, Knuckles the Echidna and others. Not to mention the extensive gameplay... That doesn't revolve around rescuing a princess.

SONIC SHOULD HAVE WON AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT !!! SONIC HAS THE BEST MUSIC< HE CHANGES STORY AND GAMEPLAY IN EVERY GAME AND HAS A MASSIVE FANBASE WAITING FOR MORE WHILE MARIO HAS THE BORING STORY OF SAVING THE PRINCESS IN EVERY GAME AND. I MEAN FOR GOD SAKE HES BEEN DOING THE SAME THING FOR OVER 20 YEARS. SO SONIC SHOULD HAVE WON ALTOGETHER AND ALSO SHAME ON YOU GADGET SHOW FOR MAKING ONE OF THE WORST WALL OF FAMES EVER CAUSING THE UNANSWERABLE QUESTION ON MASCOT RAGE TO GO ON !!!

Sonic Should have won because his games are better than marios the soundtrack alone beats mario and the gameplay and story are brilliant. Mario just keeps on saving princess peach over and over again its boring So Sonic should have been the clear winner. shame on you Jon for robbing Sonic of his rightful place on the wall of fame.

well Screw them there wall of fame is a wall of shame, Let teh fans decied, Sonic has been threw alot mario's games are but for Familys sonic is an all new way of playing games, it has action adventure.. oh and jon... look at the poles. TAKE MARIO DOWN!!!!! SONIC DESERVES THE SLOT, WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH. SONIC HAS HAD SOME OF THE GREATEST HITS EVER AND I KEEP MY MEGADRIVE TO PLAY THE ORIGINAL!

The problem for me is that whilst Mario was defiantly subject to better game design as far as the actual characters are concerned Sonic quite literally pulls ahead with all members of the franchise showing real character progression and emotion unlike in Mario where character defining moments are few and far between. It is unfortunate that the question of the better character or franchising was decided on the nature of the platforming game play.

Why Sonic? Althougth Sonic was popular back then, LOOK AT THE MARIO GAMES. You see instresting enemies n bosses, Gameplay, and what do you do at Sonic!? Jump on robots head for 16 times! I vote for Mario, hes the man! And oh, hear Bowser's theme in Super Mario Galaxy! Its epic! And screw you all who think Sonics better. Just sayin'. :P
