Top 5 Festival apps for Apple iPhone, Android and Symbian
With the nice weather now upon us, festival season is just around the corner, with Glastonbury, Reading, V-fest and more all coming up. What festivals should you go to, however? What bands should you see and which music is worth buying afterwards? How do you find your tent when you’ve had a beer or six? Read on to see five handy festival apps.
MusicID, Apple iPhone One of the great things about festivals is the chance to find out all about new bands and new music. Although it’s easy to spot who the band is (usually by the huge sign behind their heads), it can be tricky identifying songs. With MusicID, simply hold up your Apple iPhone, and with a bit of fortune, and depending on how in tune the band is live, your phone will tell you what the song is.
Ovi Maps 3.06, Nokia Nokia’s free mapping service is a fantastic tool for getting you to the festival, but it can also be used once you’re there too. The latest version of Ovi Maps offers a ‘footprint’ feature, showing you exactly where you’ve come from. Just make sure you start the app when you leave your tent, and it’ll be easy to find your way back again when drunk! Just make sure you don’t get lost or walk through a river on the way to the gig, otherwise you’ll end up walking back the same way later on…
Gaymers Camden Crawl, Android Along with apps that are merely useful at festivals, there are also plenty off apps – like this one for the Camden Crawl festival – that keep you updated with everything you need to know. From the artists and bands, to promotions and discounts, to venue schedules and maps, this is a must-have app for your Android app if you’re planning on wandering along to the Camden Crawl festival.
Reading Festival, Android If you’re planning on heading along to Reading this year (or Leeds), there’s an Android app specifically for the festival. Offering details on the latest lineups, there’s no need to spend money on expensive programme. Better yet, this app also offers a map of the festival, and you can set the location of your tent, making it easy to get back again at the end of the night.
FestiGoGo, Apple iPhone We’re not sure whether this impressive looking iPhone app works in the UK, but it definitely promises to let you know all about the latest festivals somewhere in the world! With information on all types of music, and featuring upcoming festivals, with dates, locations, details on performers and more, it has a lot of potential. With festivals from the other side of the world featured on the screen snaps, you may just have to travel a bit to see the latest bands!
