Top 10 Games on the Go

In this week’s show, we take a look at the Top 5 go-anywhere games. Well, we reckoned that five just wasn’t enough, so we’ve expanded the list to a whole Top 10 of the best titles in mobile gaming. But what do you think? Have we missed any out? Add your own in the comments section below…

Plants vs. Zombies £5.99(iPad)

Fighting off undead hordes using horticultural skills might seem a little bizarre but then nothing in the world of Plants vs. Zombies is straightforward. A devilishly addictive combination of resource management and tower defense, it’s little wonder that this gem of a game has sold millions worldwide.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker £31.99 (PSPGo)

Solid Snake’s most recent portable adventure crams in all of the action of the home console releases along with a barrage of unique multiplayer modes. You can also expect some of the best graphics on the PSP and highly cinematic cut-scenes.

Warioware DIY £24.99 (Nintendo DSi)

Mario’s arch-nemesis Wario has starred in a series of brilliant mini-game releases but this latest effort marks a massive evolution in the concept – here, you get to cook up the fun. The fully-featured creation tool allows you to become a video game designer and you can share your fiendish constructions with friends.

Eliminator Pro £Free (iPhone 4)

There are few better ways to show off the power of your shiny new iPhone 4 than this intense online first-person shooter. Boasting incredible visuals and a rock-solid multiplayer action, it could end up diverting your attention away from home console blasters.

PacMan $4.99 (HTC Desire)

Namco’s coin-op classic is the perfect portable accompaniment to long train journeys. With bags of pill-munching and ghost-avoiding fun on show, we can’t see PacMan’s appeal diminishing any time soon.

Doodle Jump £0.59p (iPhone)

The world is divided into two sets of people – those who have played Doodle Jump and those that are going to play it. With the simple but addictive objective of getting as far up the screen as possible, this is likely to swallow up every second of your free time.

Buka £1.50 (HTC Desire)

Guiding a luminous sphere through the depths of space might not seem particularly riveting but Buka’s journey is packed with action. Using your phone’s accelerometer control you must keep her out of harm’s way whilst blowing up incoming asteroids with the touch screen.

Dragon Quest IX £24.99 (Nintendo DS)

Packed with hours of role-playing action and a groundbreaking multiplayer co-op modes, Dragon Quest IX has been a smash-hit in its native Japan and deserves just as much success here. Staggering levels of customsation and thousands of items to collect should ensure that this remains in your DS cart slot for some time to come.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite £24.99 (PSPgo)

Monster Hunter is one of the biggest franchises to emerge from Japan in recent memory and has almost single-handedly revived the ailing PSP’s fortunes in that region. Experience the thrill of taking down massive dinosaur-like beasts with a wide range of weapons – you can even team up with mates for the big hunt.

Soul of Darkness 500 DSiWare points (Nintendo DSiWare)

An epic 2D platform adventure with a gothic theme and role-playing overtones, Soul of Darkness borrows elements from Konami’s Castlevania and Nintendo’s Metroid – two highly respected gaming franchises – to create an totally unique download-only classic.

I think you missed out one game which has stayed well under the radar http://www.razorianfly.com/2010/07/12/4-must-have-puzzle-games-for-iphone-and-ipod-touch/ Pinch for the iphone and itouch is on here as a top 4 game i quote "Recently updated to 72 levels for you to play through and the promise of more to come, this is yet another great puzzle game that seems to have slipped under the radar somewhat. It’s also currently available for the tiny sum of $0.99/£0.59. For that, how can you not buy it now?" I personally cant get enough of it
