Abraham Lincoln once said: “Freedom is the last, best hope of Earth.” Now, we’re pretty sure that old Abe wasn’t talking about Freeware when he said this, but you would be hard pressed to deny that certain free software leaves you with a pretty fuzzy, warm feeling inside.

Examples of just such amazing software to download online for free include StellariuM, Dropbox, VLC Portable, Sumo Paint and Spotify. You’ve got your image manipulation, online storing, music streaming, media viewing and, erm, star gazing desires all covered. But which is the number one bit of freeware according to us?
