The best of tech 2008!

This year I’ve been sent far and wide by the producers of The Gadget Show (for which I thank them very much) to root out some of the best new technology known to man (and woman). I’ve seen the next step in virtual reality, autonomous helicopters, and all manner of crazy widgets to send gadget nuts, well, nuts.

But which pieces of tech have been my personal highlights of the year that was two-double-zero-eight? Well, my top five includes a massive mechanical drivable spider, a jumping life-size android, smart aquatic jellyfish robots, and a street luge (essentially a skateboard with a jet pack).

But what’s number one on my list? Well, it fits in my hand, can reach speeds of around 1,000mph (relatively) and is always top of every boys’ Christmas list. That’s right… it’s a souped-up Scalextric car. Now watch on gadget fans…
