Sir Francis Bacon once said that knowledge is power. Or was that Richard Bacon? We forget. Anyway, if that statement’s true then having a way of attaining (relative) omniscience at your fingertips is to be lauded.

That’s the reason why I like those “text a question” services you get. That and the fact that they help me cheat in my local pub quiz. But which service is best? Which has the response time of a Krypton Factor contestant and which is as slow as Superman on Kryptonite? Which is more accurate than a Cambridge University professor and which is about as clever as a “university” student from Bognor? All stipulations that we imposed in our little test.
