Sony readying 50+ 3D games for the PS3
Are you ready for the 3D gaming revolution?
Sony is preparing an all-out assault on the 3D gaming market with a slew of new 3D-capable titles for its flagship PS3 console.
The PS3’s advanced technical abilities has long been seen as the console’s main advantage long term over its rivals from Microsoft and Nintendo, and with 3D TVs now finally starting to gain some decent market penetration, Sony is moving to take advantage.
Sony executive Mick Hocking has promised that Sony itself is applying the 3D treatment to more than 20 existing titles, and that third-party studios are lining up new and existing games in 3D too.
“Overall we have more than 50 titles currently being converted into 3D, and this number if growing fast,” Hocking promised, adding that some of the titles in question were “massive names”.
More than that he wouldn’t say, however, but we already know that Killzone 3 will be arriving in all three dimensions, as will the about-to-launch Gran Turismo 5. Of course, Sony’s big advantage in the 3D gaming arena is that it is already one of the leading manufacturers of 3D televisions, a claim neither Microsoft nor Nintendo can match.
Will 3D gaming be enough to persuade you to spring for a brand new 3D telly? And what gaming titles would you most like to see getting the 3D treatment on the PS3? Let us know in the comments below…
