Sony PSP: Official UK Games Chart

With the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play getting ever closer, we’ve been having a browse through the top 10 Sony PSP titles to see what Sony has to offer the mobile gaming world.

There are some crackers in the top ten, but worryingly for Sony and the upcoming Xperia Play, a lot of the titles are getting a bit long in the tooth. Most noticeable is FIFA 10, in at number three in the Official UK Games Chart – it’s an absolute stunner of a game, but one that’s also been around for quite a while now.

It’s definitely enough to keep the Sony PSP ticking over nicely, but we think Sony will have to develop some new and innovative games in time for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play if it’s to take on the mighty Nintendo 3DS, or even smartphones like the Apple iPhone and Nokia N8.

In at number one, you’ll find MGS Peace Walker – a game that’s also been around since 2010, and is exclusive to the Sony PSP – but a game that’s amazingly fun and addictive.

Lego Harry Potter sits at number two, proving the enduring popularity of the LEGO franchise, but it’s sports titles that really take over the Sony PSP top 10 chart. FIFA 10 aside, you’ll also find Football Manager Handheld 2010, 2010 FIFA World Cup, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, and (the only 2011 title in the mix) Madden 11.

All very good, but lets hope developers are working on some fresh games to liven up Sony’s portable gaming portfolio.
